Gomez has excelled in a number of different roles for the Reds so far in 2023-24, with JĂĽrgen Klopp hailing his importance in the immediate aftermath of reaching the Carabao Cup final in midweek.
And while the No.2's performances have come as no surprise to Van Dijk, the captain has taken great pride in seeing the widespread praise that has been heaped on his fellow defender.
In the matchday programme for today's Emirates FA Cup tie with Norwich City, Van Dijk writes: "I saw that the gaffer said what we have done over the last couple of months would not have been possible without Joe and I would agree with that.
"Whatever position he plays in and whatever he's asked to do, Joey's approach could not be better so it is nice – and more importantly, totally deserved – that he is getting some recognition.
"I have made no secret of the fact that Joey is someone who I always enjoy playing alongside. He's not the only one of course, but I sometimes feel that he does not get the credit that he deserves.
"All I can say is that from a captain's point of view and a centre-back's point of view, it is really helpful to have someone who can play every position across the back four to an unbelievably high standard.
"Joey has always been appreciated inside the dressing room and, as I've said, I'm personally one of his biggest fans. Seeing him perform the way he has been makes me really happy but, more than anything else, it is a massive help to the team.
"Hopefully the kind of recognition he is getting right now will become normal because it will mean that others are seeing him the same way we do."
