Trent Alexander-Arnold made history in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday.

The Reds' right-back delivered the corner that gave the hosts their opening goal at Anfield, as

 headed past goalkeeper

's 58th Premier League assist, a record for defenders in the competition as he moved one ahead of his Liverpool team-mate

 before being substituted at half-time.

After the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp explained why the right-back was taken at half-time saying that he suffered a reoccurrence of the knee injury that had previously kept him out.

"He felt there [in his knee], he got it stuck in the grass and we will need to do further assessment," Klopp said in his post-match press conference.

In terms of the overall list for Premier League assists, across all positions, Alexander-Arnold is now joint-26th on the list, level with Peter CrouchJimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Son Heung-min.

The record is held by Ryan Giggs, who set up 162 Premier League goals.
